Go Bears - June 1997

Carrie writes, ""Go Bears" was made in June 1997 for my cousins. They are big Cal Berkley fans. Its the fourth quilt I finished, and the first time I ever did applique."

Vines with flowers - June 2002

Carrie writes, "I designed this quilt for my niece. It was the first applique I ever designed by myself and the first time I did needleturn applique. Originally the center was intended to be 4 inch squares, and then I decided to do 4 by 8 inch rectangles. That meant half the work, but I think the end result was more interesting."

Becker or Mondrian - September 2002

Carrie writes, "I designed this quilt based on a painting my niece had in her room painted by Becker. It reminded me of the artist Mondrian. It was very fun to put together. The strips in the triangle were originally designed to match along a centralaxis. However, it was virtually impossible to do. So I changed the thickness of the strips and went for a look of refracted light."

Fairy Garden

Carrie writes, "This quilt was made for another niece. It is an original design. The pieced block in the back is similar to something I saw on Simply Quilts. The applique was my own design and needleturn, with a little bit of embroidery."
