Guild Challenge 2006

Our challenge ended at the April 2006 meeting. The 8 winners will be entered into the AQS quilt show in Nashville in August 2006! We hope to have some photos posted soon. Here were the rules.

Plano Quilt Guild 1st Annual AQS Challenge - 2006

Theme: “Message in a Bottle”

Rules

  1. Quilts can be made by any number of people but, each quilter can only be represented once at AQS. However, there are no restrictions on the number of quilts a member can participate in for the guild challenge. Submissions can only be made by guild members in good standing.
  2. The size of the quilt must be 35” – 40” in width and 40” – 50” in length.
  3. The quilt must be hand or machine quilted
  4. An identification label must appear on the bottom edge of the quilt back with
    • a. Quilt name
      b. Names of all participants in quilt’s creation. If done by a small group, please list the name of the small group and all the participants.
      c. “Message in a Bottle 2006 Guild Challenge”.

  5. Quilt should interpret the theme “Message in a Bottle” and may include any technique. Any fabric is acceptable. The challenge fabric must be used in a bottle shape which must be on the front of the quilt. The challenge fabric must all be used in another design element on the front of the quilt as well.
  6. Each quilt must come with it’s own hanging method and directions if not a sleeve.
  7. All quilts are due at the April 13th, 2006 meeting. Voting will be held at this meeting. Pictures of the top 8 quilts (that do not have duplicate quilters) will be sent to AQS following this meeting. You will be notified by the 2nd week of July if quilts have been accepted at AQS. AQS must receive winning quilts by 1st week of August, 2006 for the August 23-26 AQS show in Nashville, Tennessee. Guild will keep all winning quilts until after the AQS show.
  8. Guild will cover all entry fees and shipping costs of winning quilts to the AQS show.
  9. All monetary prizes won at AQS will be awarded to the guild. All ribbons will be awarded to the quilts.
  10. You may purchase extra fabric than what is provided in the “kits”.
